RR Auction sells music history

RR Auction had plenty of prolific lot sales this year, but the Marvels of Modern Music one seems to be one of the most exquisite ones to date. The auction will start on December 7 and will conclude on December 14. This gives collectors plenty of time to both browse the online catalogue and place bids on their favorite items. Among the items that are put up for auction there are Fender and Gibson guitars, guitar straps, pedals and other musical accessories.
However, one of the most intriguing items in this lot sale is a document signed by none other than Jimi Hendrix. This is basically a letter that was written to Yameta Company as a result of a lawsuit they and Hendrix were involved in. According to RR Auction, the lawsuit was intended by Ed Chaplin and his management company, PPX.

The document reads: "You are named as the fifth defendant in the action now pending in the High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division, and assert that I am liable for your legal expenses in defending the suit. I am advised by my American attorney, Henry W. Steingarten, that I am liable only in the event it is finally adjudicated that I misrepresented my contractual status at the time I entered into my agreement with you. In any event, I have arranged with Messrs. Goodman, Derrick & co., who represent me in the English action, to assume your defense of the action without any cost to you. I also undertake to indemnify you in respect of any judgment which may be entered against you in the action, including possible court costs. In view of this undertaking on my part, my English attorneys may decide to strike from your answer your claim over against me, which now becomes unnecessary. With respect to the outstanding bill rendered by Clintons to Yameta for $5,000.,
arrangements are being made to pay the same, but such payment is conditioned upon the agreement that there will be no further bills for legal services rendered by Clintons to Yameta in respect of the above action, for which you claim I am responsible and upon the agreement that you will not assert any further and additional claim against me except in conformity with the provisions of this letter."

The 8.5 X 11 inches letter is dated on November 19, 1969 and is signed by Hendrix in black ink at the conclusion. It is in fine condition and it comes with a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. As it is stated by RR Auction, the lawsuit forced Hendrix to release a live album as well as to give PPX a payout of $1,000,000 and a share of future royalties.

This document and many other remarkable items can be viewed on RR Auction’s website or in the online catalogue. Additionally, collectors should check out their social media, which gets regularly updated.
