RR Auction lot sale features Jimi Hendrix signed document

RR Auction has never been a stranger to music history. On the contrary, the Boston – based auction house has regularly held lot sales that included anything from musical instruments, autographs, signed albums and even documents that were signed by some of the best artists in the industry!
The same thing also goes for this Jimi Hendrix signed document, dated on November 19, 1969 and which was sent to Yameta, his managing company at the time, represented by Chas Chandler. According to RR Auction, the lawsuit which pushed Hendrix to address this letter was intended by Ed Chalpin and his managing company, PPX.

The one page official document is signed at the conclusion in black ink and is in fine condition and it was estimated to be sold for over $14,000. In part, the letter reads: “I also undertake to indemnify you in respect of any judgment which may be entered against you in the action, including possible court costs. In view of this undertaking on my part, my English attorneys may decide to strike from your answer your claim over against me, which now becomes unnecessary. With respect to the outstanding bill rendered by Clintons to Yameta for $5,000., arrangements are being made to pay the same, but such payment is conditioned upon the agreement that there will be no further bills for legal services rendered by Clintons to Yameta in respect of the above action, for which you claim I am responsible and upon the agreement that you will not assert any further and additional claim against me except in conformity with the provisions of this letter."

As it is stated by RR Auction, the lawsuit concluded with Ed Chalpin and PPX on the winning side, as they were awarded a payout of $1,000,000 and a share of future royalties. On top of that, as it is mentioned by RR Auction, the lawsuit also meant that Jimi Hendrix had to record a live album for PPX.

According to RR Auction, the lawsuit which was intended for breach of contract had an immense impact on the artist’s career and path as a musician. This is precisely why this document is considered to be highly valuable and desired by collectors all over the world. Additional information about it can be found on RR Auction’s website and on social media.
